About Us

Kottayam Chess Academy (KCA) is a premier chess institution dedicated to the promotion and development of chess in Kottayam, Kerala affiliated with the Chess Association Kerala established in 2011. With a strong commitment to nurturing young talents and organizing high-quality chess events, KCA has been instrumental in elevating the state's chess culture.

Our academy has trained numerous state and national-level players, and we take pride in hosting tournaments that provide a platform for upcoming chess stars to showcase their skills.

The academy has successfully organized 25+ FIDE-rated tournaments, 2 National Championships, including the National Premier Championship. KCA has also managed the prestigious Sahodaya Chess Tournament from 2011 to 2022, making a lasting impact on chess development in the state.

The 1st God's Own Country Grand Master Open Chess Tournament 2025 is our flagship initiative to put Kerala on the international chess map.
